WAITLIST ONLY
This retreat is sold out. If you register, you are registering for the waitlist. To do this, sign up for the retreat and pay the full price for your chosen housing option. Then there are three possible outcomes:
1.) We offer you a spot on the retreat! If this happens, your payment is nonrefundable.
2.) We don’t offer you a spot. If this happens, payment will be fully refunded (minus any transaction costs, but usually there aren’t any).
3.) You withdraw from the wait list before we make our decision. If this happens, we’ll refund 75% of your payment.

Tucker will be teaching a residential retreat at a private home in Sausalito, CA, with phenomenal views of Angel Island and the bay. It starts at 6PM on Friday April 18, and ends at 2PM on Monday April 21. Attendees must be present and on retreat the whole time, including sleeping on-campus. During the retreat, we’ll practice Noble Silence, meaning we will generally not speak, and we will completely refrain from any communication technologies. There will be an emergency contact number if folks need to reach you. You can see the full retreat code of conduct over here.
Schedule Most of the day we’ll be doing sitting and walking meditation. There will be three meals, a dharma talk in the evening, and some time for exercise. You’ll have one scheduled meeting with Tucker and numerous additional opportunities to meet with him at office hours.
Is There a Sauna? There sure is!
Things to Bring As we are using a large home that isn’t a retreat center, you’ll need to bring all your bedding (eg an air mattress or a sleeping pad, pillow & blanket, etc) and your meditation seat (cushion, bench, chair). If you can’t easily do this, the registration form has a place where you can let us know. If you’re traveling from out of town, your best bet would be trying to borrow supplies from someone you know locally. You’ll be invited to register either to camp outdoors or to “camp” indoors. If you’re looking for a fun, sleepover sort of feel, you will love this retreat, and if you’re looking for high-end, luxury accommodations … probably the “$175 for 3 nights including food in one of the most expensive places in the world” has tipped you off that this is not for you. If you’re looking to do a short retreat at a real retreat center with your own bed and the option for a private room, please join us in a rainforest on the beach in Washington State this August.
Housing Options
In the house: $250. You can set up your sleeping supplies indoors, where it will be climate controlled.
On the covered balcony: $225. Outdoor sleeping with an incredible view of Angel Island. You’ll be protected from rain, and there actually is heating (but we might not be able to leave it on all night). SOLD OUT
In the garage: $200. You will be fully indoors, but it’s not climate controlled, and it’s a short walk to the restrooms. Oddly, this option has the best views! (It’s further uphill than any others.)
On the uncovered balcony: $175. You can pitch a tent on the highest floor. Great views, but not shielded from the elements. SOLD OUT
Regular old camping: $175. You can pitch a tent in the playground. The ground has the soft foamy substance that’s often on playgrounds.
Parking Parking near the house is quite limited. We’d suggest either taking a rideshare, or the Sausalito ferry, which is a 13-minute, 0.4 mile (uphill) walk. You are welcome to look for legal street parking, but the house does not have any parking for retreatants.
Registration & Payment There are two quick steps to register. Please fill out this brief form and send the registration fee via Venmo to tucker-peck (contact me if you don’t have Venmo). This only covers the cost of catered food and supplies; it does not pay for teachings. In Buddhist tradition, you’ll pay for these afterwards by donation. There’s no suggested donation; the only idea is to be generous, whatever that means for you. If you want to come and can’t afford $175, you can apply (ASAP) for a scholarship through the Open Dharma Foundation.
Cancellation Policy Registration is non-refundable. However, because this is a low-cost retreat in one of the world’s highest-income areas, these retreats have had a fairly high dropout rate. To control for this, if you sign up for the retreat, do not attend, and would like to attend a future low-cost Bay Area retreat, a $300 refundable deposit will be required on top of the registration fee. If you attend that retreat, you can have the $300 back. (To clarify: The $300 rule only applies to people who have bailed on previous low-cost Bay Area retreats. If that’s not you, please ignore this and send the amount listed above).
Also, the benefactor who is donating his house to us has requested the right to cancel up through March 18, letting us know that he’s not expecting to do this. If this happens, you’ll receive a full refund.
